PREPARING FOR YOUR PHOENIX MOVE: Previous residence

Leave keys & garage openers (with your Realtor or new owners). Travel funds (cash & travelers checks), Defrost freezer, and clean refrigerator. Prepare pet transportation and Personally transport valuables & jewelry

ADDRESS CHANGES: 2-3 weeks prior to moving day. Notify friends and family of your new address. Bank accounts, Credit card companies and give forwarding address at post office. For magazines / publications they require 6-8 week notice.

CANCEL UTILITIES: For the day of closing on your new home (Check for refunds)

5.Cable (return cable boxes)

6.Misc.: bottled water, propane, etc.

DOCUMENTS TO OBTAIN: Pack these documents some where, where they won’t get lost in the move. School transcripts (get permanent records, not copies), medical records (transfer prescriptions to new pharmacy), dental records for you and your pet, plus all veterinary records (get pets a check up before moving). All real estate documents related to this big move.

ADDRESS CHANGE: New Residence, Ask post office to hold mail for your arrival

OBTAIN NEW MEDICAL SERVICES:

1.New Doctor

2.New Dentist

3.New Vet

 DAY ONE:

Take a supply of toilet paper, cleaning supplies, snacks and drinks for the first day while you are moving in. Unpack the necessary items first and anything the children might need for their first night in your new home. Check the backyard for loose gates or holes under fences that family pets could get out through. Check the pilot light for stove, water heater and furnace.
